Free spreadsheets and free POS tools handle a piece count and a price, but they cannot hold gross, net, stone and pure weight on the same line, cannot stop a salesperson typing their own gold rate, cannot value old gold taken in against a sale, and cannot produce a trial balance in grams. Most jewellers who start free switch within two years, usually after a stock take that will not reconcile. Yes. The records that worry people most are the ones in flight — open repairs, layaways, unreturned memo and customer history — so those are migrated and reconciled first, not last. We accept Excel and CSV exports, SQL backups and accounting exports, map your item codes and karat masters to ours, and run the old and new systems side by side over a short parallel period so you can prove the balances match before you switch the counter over. A straightforward migration is included in onboarding; pulling history out of several legacy systems at once is scoped and quoted separately.

What happens to my open repairs, layaways and memo during the switch?

They come across as open documents, not as history. An unfinished repair keeps its intake date, its promised date, the customer, the metal issued and the karigar it is with. A layaway keeps its balance and its schedule. Memo stock keeps its vendor, its ageing clock and its return date. That matters because these are the records a customer will ask about in your first week on a new system, and a migration that flattens them into closed transactions makes the software look broken when it is not.
